Andy Bradley gives feedback on his original mk1 compacts........
Edwards Custom Upgrades Mk 1 Compacts
Not being the type of person that normally writes reviews I thought I would for my Mk1 Compacts as I have now had them 12 months and considered this a long enough time period to have formed an accurate opinion.
Over the years I have owned many other different alarms from most of the other manufacturers and felt that none really gave me everything I had been looking for there seemed to be a compromise. I then started to look at Edwards Custom Upgrades Mk1 compacts. I guess the 1st thing that made me look at them was the old school look I have always been a fan of that look. I had also heard good things from other anglers that used them. I spoke to Scott and decided on the colour of the leds I wanted and placed my order as promised they arrived within a couple of days. It struck me that the case they came in was of good quality and I liked that I had been supplied with spares some snag ears and a little screwdriver to replace the batteries when the need would arise. So let’s hit the bank and give them a go over the last year they have been out for I would guess 70 - 85 nights in all weathers from -7 to + 28 they have never missed a beat in the rain and have been mega reliable. The functions are the functions not going into them I am sure you all know how to use them suffice to say they are simple and all work fantastically well. I normally fish a semi slack line with my reels locked up and the alarms on max sensitivity and even in high winds false bleeps are very rare knock the sensitivity down one and it stops completely. I also love the simplicity of having a roller it’s reliable does not freeze up in cold conditions and does not suffer line skip I.E the line moving or slipping over the roller even with thin lines when slack line fishing.
In summary if you want some old school lookers with all the reliability of modern technology functions that work and fantastic customer service Edwards Custom Upgrades without doubt are the way to go. Thanks Scott for a great product Andrew Bradley.
