Talking Buzzers & Stalking Leneys!

West midlands  specialist angler Bill Woodward was on the phone to me the other day asking about the mk1 compacts and itching to put his order in, when we got onto discussing  all things carp and the waters hes fished around his area. as we got chatting he sent me through some wonderful old Leney shots of some very special old history fish. I say history fish in every sense as these are original Leneys undiluted and dating back to the 1970s. what wonderful carp, and really the size is irrelevant these are the old ladies and gents of our lakes that are sadly passing away as time passes on. So with this understanding Bills found himself a little bit of heaven with these wonderful old carp in and its an old estate lake that's surprisingly a day ticket water.
Here's what Bill himself has to say......
``After chasing large carp for a while I became more focussed on quality carp with some history to them, size almost immaterial.  The lake I'm focussed on at the moment is an old estate lake in Leicestershire called Willesley, currently a day ticket and open to all.  People are shocked to hear this when they see the pictures of the type of carp that live here, leneys, over 30 years old,  Chestnut mirrors and deep bronze commons.  Not the easy runs water it was in the 80's and 90's, it's now a different proposition but rewards the thinking angler.  Even on running rigs they move the indicator no more than a fraction giving a single bleep if you're lucky, on a bolt rig they don't even move it out the silt and you're done!!  A real test of a decent alarm hence my conversation with Scott and an order placed.  Here are just a couple of the old warriors that reside in Willesley, both caught on Mainline baits which they seem to have a distinct liking for in there.``

MK1 COMPACTS  on facebook Old School Carp Fishing Tackle

Picturefacebook old school carp fishing tackle
One site that's always worth alook to see wonderful photos of old skool carp fishing tackle is.......

`facebook old school carp fishing tackle`.

The anglers visiting this site show great camaraderie and any questions about carp tackle from any era there's always someone on here that'll divulge a story or two or help you out with any technical questions. for me its a great site that shows a part of carp fishing that sometimes is forgotten, no over the top commercialism, or ramming down your throat the latest fad carp gear. just anglers with knowledge that have been around and arnt fooled easily. no graces, no egos, just old skool carp anglers sharing history photos and exchanging friendly banter.

check the site out, you'll find out that carp fishing has great depth and many of todays latest carp gear has roots of some sort from the past. indeed one of the earliest modern day inventions was the hair rig and that as we know is one of the fundamental rig requirements in todays modern carp fishing era. well that was invented years and years ago late 70s at a rough guess? ive posted up on here some of my alarms I saw on the facebook site anglers had posted up. im sure they wont mind me sharing them with you guys.

Old Skool Carper Steve Scott lands monster Amwell common 49lb+!

Steve Scott head bailiff  on the  Stanstead Amwell syndicate has just landed the awesome Silver Common at  49lb 7oz! what a beast of a fish. ive just sorted out Steve with a few bits for his optonic buzzers and some ecu alarm hanger pouches. when shortly after speaking with him he's back on the phone again asking me to look at his old optonic as it took a bit of a bashing and got a little too wet in amongst all the excitement of landing amwells silver common! im maxed out with all the mk1 builds and enquiries but on this occasion how can I say no! as many know ive stopped now altogether working on the old optonic alarms as the pressures on the mk1 compacts are too great and I just cant fit the time in any longer. some lads don't realise how long I was doing the old optonic upgrades for. but it was well over 10 years on them. because of the magazine coverage im getting on the mk1 compacts lads now are finding out about my optonic work also. but sadly they're missing out as I've eased back on doing the ecu optonic upgrades. plenty more developments in the pipeline. the mk1 compacts are being supplied not only in the uk direct but orders are coming in from Germany and the Netherlands now also.
Seems like many European anglers love the old skool buzzers as much as us uk anglers do.
im hoping to release some very special add on accessories for the mk1 compacts before xmas, so watch this space as they say!
well done again to Steve Scott on landing the Amwells Silver Common, Steve's kindly offered me a weekends fishing on the amwell syndicate and id love to take the offer up at some point, but presently im maxed out on all the builds! signing out.. Scott Edwards

Ben the silent assassin.....

Here`s a nice little bit of news I had texted through to me the other morning.....

`loving the alarms Scott, just made a red letter session even more memorable with dulled leds and box on vibrate no one knew I've just had nine fish including a 30 on a sneaky overnighter. Many thanks Ben.`

I thought it was a great little story and it really shows what you can get out of your fishing on those work over nighters and im pleased to hear the mk1 compacts played there part nicely also in getting the result. no pics sadly as its another no publicity ban water. but even from the short piece we get the feeling of what carp fishing is all about. well done Ben.

Thanks to the ad guys and girls at Carp-Talk for the continued support they're giving us. ive been on the phone and pinging emails constantly to Bev Clifford advising her of tweeks and changes I want to my ad. she must have the patience of a saint! but anybody that knows me, knows im a fussy bugger and that doesn't stop at tackle product development.

So ive been scrutinising my ads to get them to ecu standard and really show the essence of what my labels about. all the new ads that will filter through are all my own photos and they really ad to the adverts massively. many thanks again bev. carp talk is a weekly read and a few years back when I was chasing big English carp it really is the weekly mag to get to see whats coming out.

Such a vital piece of literature to see whats coming out and from where. some waters you can really build up a nice scrap book of the captures by cutting them out from this weekly when your target fish appear in them. and it can be a nice little edge in trying to get the big picture on a certain fish.

I had a great email last night from one happy customer christening his new mk1 compacts.

Aarons been an ecu customer for a long time and hes waited ages for these new alarms to be released. always keeping him posted of developments when he sent me his emails. well hes getting some good fish recently and hes telling me he loves the old skool tones to the buzzers.

what a cracking personal best and one hell of a way to christen any new carp tackle. 48lb 2oz English PB caught from a southern syndicate that I cant name or I`ll be hung! But what a fish, and take a look at his old skool set up that's he's caught this beast on. if your into an ultra modern look or an old skool look, I think the mk1 compacts fit nicely in both genres.  great pics and great fish, check out the zip linear in the folds of the net, lovely looking carp.

Premier Baits Custom Big Pit Boilies proving the winning formula, thanks Aaron. signing out... Scott Edwards.
