No stranger to catching some of the UK`s finest history Carp is Graham Larkcom.  Affectionately known as ``Hampshire Graham`` or ``Blunder`` to his mates. He`s fished many top waters in his time and certainly gets amongst the biggest wherever he dabbles a line! an still managing to hold down full time work!!!
Here he is with one of Frimley`s Pit 3 heavy weights... A gorgeous big Common.... ``Gregory Pec`` at 49lb+ from last year. outwitted whilst using the mk1 compact alarms.
and just for prosperity, check out the impressive pic of the ``Causeway fish`` from a Southern club water and ``Heather the Leather`` from the Yateley Car Park lake. Cracking fish from an era that we all hold dear in our memories.
I know Graham from the Chichester lakes from years back, an the fact that he`s on the original mk1 Compacts and now on the r-plus alarms is a testament to how well these buzzers perform. and that`ll do for me!  / Scott  Edwards  / E.C.U

Only yesterday was i messaging to Scottie on his recent carpy endeavours and receiving a few nice shots off him. less than 24hrs later he's messaging again saying he's bagged the biggest in the lake from his current venue.
r-plus alarms doing what they should be doing, and naturally getting the important bite!
here's whats Scottie has to say....

...."......well.. here she is. the gray lady. biggest one in the lake @28lb 6oz.  this one's been on my list for five years and I've witnessed it twice to two good friends but now is my time to hold her aloft. three bleeps on the rplus signalled her arrival.. I'm over the moon with this one .......".......
Very well done Scottie! / ecu😎👍

Fantastic result for Mark using the ecu r-plus alarms, he's nailed the big common again. Great angling and careful baiting strategy getting  this important bite. Here's what Mark  had to say...………….
"...….Just seen a bit of activity about 40 yards out as I only just moved into this swim being the fish are well on the feed I put 3 kg out and slowly set up camp as I always do no rods out just let them have lunch 3 hrs later put 2 rods out one in the middle of the bait the other to the right edge as the undertow was pretty fast left to right rods had been out for 2 hrs just got dark and off it went and so the battle started 20 min later she surrendered to the pressure, I caught her last year at 44.11 this time she was still a healthy 44.00 , what a fish...…"

But Scottie still managed to get a result and landing two fine carp. one being this gorgeous common carp. And frustrating for Scottie he lost a few aswel commenting `they fight like demons in that lake....`!

First blood to you mate and I'm sure you'll be over there again to tame those giants in that lake.

Andy Bradley gives feedback on his original mk1 compacts........

Edwards Custom Upgrades Mk 1 Compacts
Not being the type of person that normally writes reviews I thought I would for my Mk1 Compacts as I have now had them 12 months and considered this a long enough time period to have formed an accurate opinion.
Over the years I have owned many other different alarms from most of the other manufacturers and felt that none really gave me everything I had been looking for there seemed to be a compromise. I then started to look at Edwards Custom Upgrades Mk1 compacts. I guess the 1st thing that made me look at them was the old school look I have always been a fan of that look. I had also heard good things from other anglers that used them. I spoke to Scott and decided on the colour of the leds I wanted and placed my order as promised they arrived within a couple of days. It struck me that the case they came in was of good quality and I liked that I had been supplied with spares some snag ears and a little screwdriver to replace the batteries when the need would arise. So let’s hit the bank and give them a go over the last year they have been out for I would guess 70 - 85 nights in all weathers from -7 to + 28 they have never missed a beat in the rain and have been mega reliable. The functions are the functions not going into them I am sure you all know how to use them suffice to say they are simple and all work fantastically well. I normally fish a semi slack line with my reels locked up and the alarms on max sensitivity and even in high winds false bleeps are very rare knock the sensitivity down one and it stops completely. I also love the simplicity of having a roller it’s reliable does not freeze up in cold conditions and does not suffer line skip I.E the line moving or slipping over the roller even with thin lines when slack line fishing.
In summary if you want some old school lookers with all the reliability of modern technology functions that work and fantastic customer service Edwards Custom Upgrades without doubt are the way to go. Thanks Scott for a great product Andrew Bradley.

UK PB Common! for Specialist angler Shaun Harrison!

30/11/2017

Picture
Accomplished old skool specialist angler Shaun Harrison bags himself a stunning uk personal best common.
Now I know Shaun through his writings for many years gone by. I grew up reading about the fabled mangrove and birch grove waters. and his exploits achieving a record brace from the Mangrove. First Mangrove brace over 70lb at the time! Most of you wont know about these feats Shaun accomplished but a few will if you carp fished from the 80s / 90s onwards you grew up reading about the historic Mangrove mere. But  back in the day this was big news. He knows his baits, and he's an all rounded successful carp angler. catching on his own terms. and very much highly regarded in big fish circles.
Shauns been on the ecu buzzers both the original mk1 compacts and the new r-plus compacts since late summer 2017. and I was interested to hear how he's been getting on and certainly in no time at all he goes and breaks his uk pb with this almighty home grown British common!!!

Here's what Shaun has to say on the ecu edwards buzzers.......

``This year I found I needed to change my alarms as I was finding myself in angling situations where my old tried and trusted of many years were beginning to let me down. Well, not so much let me down, but more to the point, they weren’t really coping with what I was asking of them.
I was fishing at very close ranges in very shallow water with ultra-lightweight indicators and quite simply the speed of the takes were smacking the indicators into the rods before I was signalling any sound from my alarms and due to the shallow water I simply couldn’t afford for the carp to get too much of a head start on me.
I started to look around at what was available, searching the internet simply doing my homework and the alarms that I kept going back to were the ECU’s. The Edward’s Custom Up-Grades.
I have been around a lot of years, this being my 40th year actually catching carp and I found the looks of the ECU’s quite pleasing to my old lived in eyes. I liked the fact that they weren’t covered with that modern rubberised material that seems all the rage these days but ends up sticky and horrible after a bit of use. I guess deep down they reminded me of my alarms of old but with much more modern inners. Almost retro looking which is something I like, particularly so the original models.
After much deliberating I took the plunge and welcomed into my choice of tackle a set of the originals and the new all singing, all dancing models.
Why two sets?
There you are I have beaten you to it and going to answer that one now.
I fish a lot and fish a lot of different waters and a pet hate of mine is swapping gear around.
Out of choice I prefer single bank sticks or a two rod bar and a single stick set up for 3 rods. However, many of the waters I fish, I have to use a rod pod due to the concrete nature (not wanting to spook fish crunching sticks in) or wooden platforms of some swims. So, I like to have both options and I thought that being a virgin to the ECU range it made sense to try both systems. Besides I couldn’t get rid of the fondness of the looks of the original, but also wanted to try the all singing all dancing.
Well, here I am and I’m pleased to say many takes later and my ECU’s have never missed a beat. Lots of bleeps now before I hear the smack of the indicator smacking against the rod and hardly ever a false bleep either.
I’m rough with my gear, my tackle I simply use as the tools they are supposed to be. Not for me having to mollycoddle bits of gear. If it works then great, if it doesn’t, it gets pushed aside. I’m not sentimental with things like many appear to be.
So here I am several months on and finally feeling like I have lived with them through a decent enough period of time to be confident that I will be continuing to use them for a lot longer.
Attached is a rather nice 40 lb plus true British common that made my Shaun the Sheep indicator really sound like it was bleating at me, courtesy of my ECU’s. I do love those low tones, they don’t make me jump as much as the real high tones that are also available in the setting up options.
A big thumbs up from me.``
