Picture
Finally, after nearly two years of hard development I'm happy to release my Empera dst Classic carp rods.
Toray jap carbon, Fuji k series guides, full 1k outer weave. full cork handle, stainless butt cap... ecu etched. stainless collars. genuine fuji reel seat. finished in an chestnut and amber hue tint I've  specifically made up. These rods look gorgeous and will cast a  lead and bait to the horizon. I've only made up a very small initial number and I predict they'll be sold out very quickly, you've been warned!
Retail price £369.99 each, stunning rods very limited numbers being made available on the first batch.
Don't let the old skool looks of this rod deceive you, they're wolfs in sheep's clothing! out and out distance rods that'll cope with powerful lunges of big carp whatever distance you fish at. but when needed to compress and cast to the distant horizon these rods will out perform your expectations. Available on the website and in limited shops within a few days! as I venture into the rod market there was only one brief I was setting myself...`make the best`.. I'm not interested in low end, medium end. for my own fishing I want top end and the finest I can get. and with the realisation  of something quite special was developing in front of me I'm finally  happy to release the empera dst classic.... / Scott Edwards / E.C.U

Sussex history 40+ Common for Franky!

Picture
40lb+ Sussex Common Carp for Franky Tricarico, what a way to christen your new ecu buzzers. franky had picked them up off me personally a few months back and he was well keen to start putting them through their paces on a variety of tricky intimate Sussex waters. Here he is with one carp I've always liked. and she's a real beauty, totally home grown in a wild `left alone` environment for years she's continued to grow and battle for food amongst a small group of smaller carp and the bulging coot wildlife. the water is only very shallow ...couple of feet deep and bulging with duck and coot wildlife in about 3acres of water.
great result and a proper history fish for Sussex, well done!
mk1 compact buzzers well christened in fine style!

Spencer Powell emailed me about his recent big hit on Grenville, apparently takes were few and far between amongst the anglers on their at the time, but Spence fished smart and soon got amongst them....
``Hi mate my session started on Tuesday morning arriving at 7am looking at the weather was changing to a s/w and becoming warmer from that night so I went in a peg where the wind was pushing into me and I was fishing a 12ft bar which is shallow part of the lake .nothing happened during the day I did spomb out about a kilo of boilies but spread about ,fishing about 80yrds I had a take which was a 37 mirror I had three other fish that night I continued putting bait out during the day topping up the swim I had six fish that early evening upto 29lb .next morning I put out five kilo of bollies out onto the spots that night I had 8fish four fish over 30lb others upto 29lb so fantastic session 5x30 10x20 and three doubles, the alarms where fantastic! all performing yet again , many thanks again, Spencer. ``
Great result Spence. Proper hauling, and memories that'll last you a lifetime, well done.

Bob Tapken`s Common Gold & 18 months on the MK1 Compacts...

37lb 15oz Bar of Golden Common.....
Its always nice to hear from  fellow old skool carp anglers that have done it all and seen it all. Bob writes about his first 18 months on the ecu buzzers....
``Hi Scott, here is a nice common I caught this week 37lb15oz from my Northants syndicate, it wasn't a one toner but a drop back which made me think it was a bream until I latched into it. It's a while since I have had a drop back from a carp and it came as a nice surprise as it fought like mad and I had it twice to the net only for it to tear off again before I could at last net it.

The alarms are still performing well and I am impressed with battery life I still have the original batteries in the heads as supplied by you although I always have the heads on mute and have the receiver on, considering the receiver is on the whole of the session I have only changed the battery 4 times in 18 months my other alarms I used to use I had to replace battery every 4/5 sessions.

 All the best

 Bob``

Thanks for the feedback Bob, keep at em! , Scott Edwards / E.C.U

Jon `shoes` Jones atmospheric shot.....

3/11/2016

Jon sent in this photo today  and what a photo! `Shoes` is a great carp angler,  very talented in making the big carp fall to his rods, aswel as very talented with video editing and filming for fishing labels up and down the country. Jon`s also great at taking stills aswel, as this shot proves. many thanks Jon for sending the photo in. a lovely shot that generates so many feelings as you gaze at it. the one thing carp anglers have when on the banks is time and moments to think about the big scaleys swimming out in the depths in front of us, or thinking about family or friends past and present. Soaking in the nature and surroundings as the busy modern life still hurries all around us. We sit on the banks with a brew in hand. Jon's photo is part of all that, an introspective photo that gets you thinking and pondering....... Scott Edwards / ecu.

Tappers gets a result...40lb 14oz!

Hardened carp angler whose been there, done it, going way back is Bob Tapken, I knew of Bob from his days with nutrabaits in the 80s and his writings on the famous nutrafruit range nutrabaits released at the time. when Bob approached me last year about getting on the mk1 compacts we hit it off straight away, and he's been on them since. Lads tell me about Bob being out there doing it in all weathers, and he's relentless at targeting big carp in any season.
Here's what Bob had to say about his latest result....
``......... Hi Scott, Doesn't the adrenalin start to flow when you get a one noter in the middle of the night and after the fight you net the fish and see in the bottom of the net a 40lb+ mirror when weighed it went 40lb 14oz . It only went better still when I was packing down the bivvy to go home when another one noter kicked off, this time it was another mirror  weighing 37lb 7oz.  Earlier in the session I had a mirror of 11lb 6oz and had a hook pull out on another, A session to be remembered.

I have now had your alarms for nearly a year and have used them in all conditions, they tick all the boxes and have never let me down, I am really pleased with them and they have caused quite a bit of a stir with people asking to demonstrate them and I think it has made for a few anglers getting in touch with you or the nearest shop that sells them. Thanks again Scott .

All the best,    Bob  ........  ``

Seb Treinats  photos from Germany.....

31/10/2016

Sebastian Treinats photos never disappoint. Sebs a partner in HZ-BAITS of Germany. and he's been on the mk1 compacts from day one when I released them initially way back in june1st 2015.
5 years of hard graft and development went into their formation. and regarded by many and the alarms to get on. Not bad for a new alarm on the market, but my graft on old alarms and building the reputation goes way back and these alarms came on the back of that. no fancy marketing, just a label with history and built on quality and doing things different. After all who wants to be the same as everyone else?......

Phil Tabry`s St Lawrence magic!

Picture
Canadian carp angler Phil Tabry`s been once again getting amongst the jewels of the great St Lawrence river. Here is with a fine brace. check out Phil`s handy receiver hanger. I normally use the inside of my brolly rib or stick the mk1 compact receiver on my bivvy table. But Phil's Canadian fishing from a house boat had him utilising the Captains wheel perfectly! lol Phil had this magnificent 34lb 4oz wild common (above pic) and a follow up 29lb common (below pic) and again  another  pure wildie. Probably never even seen a hook before in its life!
Picture
Lovely shot of the Captains wheels as Phil enjoyed a weeks fishing on a Canadian house boat on the great St Lawrence river.

A couple of river bank shots from Phil as he targets those very nomadic St Lawrence carp....

Griffin Carp Leads, quality from an independent label.

4/10/2016

I came across this company by chance a few weeks ago, and the more I delved into their assortment of leads they offered the more impressed I was.
Martin Griffin who runs the company is a friendly old skool angler and fellow engineer that knows about hand crafting a product to get the quality out of it as the end result.
His leads are very impressive. I've tried picking off the coating and its on those leads like glue! finished with satin black coated loops and swivels there's no obvious glints coming off your end tackle. a real bonus, as concealment is the name of the game at every angle.
I've got no links at all to this company, I'm recommending them as an angler to fellow anglers that want a good quality product delivered speedily at sensible prices . Email Martin for lead designs and pricing, mention that Scott Edwards recommended Griffin Carp leads to you and he`ll look after you.

Sebastians Treinats Bars of Gold......

Sebastian Treinats an angler that last year when first chatting to him, I found we had a few things in common, He loves his photography and has a passion for old tackle aswel as new tackle.
He's always sending in great nature or lake stills, and really you get the impression catching carp is just one depth to Seb. Being there, savouring the atmosphere and being part of nature is what Sebs carp fishing is about, and I whole heartedly agree with those sentiments.
Have a look at these stunners Seb has had recently and a few of the quality shots Seb has emailed in.......

I had sent into me today a couple of cracking shots from the famous Savay lake, one ecu customer has had a right result and braced two big old Savay Carp, I'm sworn to secrecy about exact details, so apologies from keeping things vague, but from such an iconic water I thought you'd appreciate the  carpy photos nevertheless.

New Mk1 Compacts colour combos now built! & finally available!

14/5/2016

Picture
We`ve  just finished building the next batch of our mk1 compacts and we`ve  got some great colour combos available for the first time and a classic  colour combo once again reintroduced.

The classic combo re - returns... RWB AND RWBG colour combo sets return but this time with red run leds incorporated in this classic combo set.

Below is the NEW colour combo sets and they look stunning, now available  through some of the finest carp shops in the  UK and in Europe.

ALL BLUE SETS & red run leds.
ALL RED SETS & blue run leds.
ALL WHITE SETS & red run leds.
ALL PURPLE SETS & red run leds.

ALL GREEN sets & white run leds still presently available.

Also available are same colour receivers but these are very  very limited to only a handful being produced.
all green receivers, all white receivers, all blue receivers, all red receivers.

We  often sell out because we build in limited batches so my advice is get in quick whilst we have stock available or you'll be waiting another 4 months until we build the next batch! We build in the hundreds and we will never build in the 1000s, id never do that as that's not my way, but you will find we often sell out very fast so early ordering through your  local tackle shop is advisable.

Shaun Iddon`s Mk1 Compacts...

Shaun sent in these photos to us via facebook page, and I'm glad he did, all looks spot on to me, I think the black fox hangers go very nice with the overall look. For me carp fishing is being an individual making your own look, fishing your own way, and that's what's nice about seeing what the anglers are using in their own fishing.

Carpology Summer Special edition out now!

Abi  from the Carpology hq sent me an email telling me about the latest summer special edition they've produced. As soon  as the email had pinged over to me the postie was dropping the magazine through my door! Coincidence  or Carpology black magic working here!...
Scanning through it there's some outstanding photography being delivered by numerous anglers and keen carpy photographers. sub surface guru Gaz Fareham`s done a piece about a winter lean period he experienced then it all came right for him and why?. Terry Hearn gives some logic and thoughtful tactics to summer fishing that I'm sure will give many lads the bigger picture in banking regularly summer carp and not just waiting for that hot morning spell to arrive.
Carp mags as far as I'm concerned are part of our every day carp life we all live in, and id say support the mags when you can, they do a cracking job in highlighting the new gear and the new tactics, or even the old tactics we sometimes forget about. And what I can see is the quality in them is just getting better and better.

As a company I will only advertise in a mag that has my  full support and carpology certainly does. with this special summer issue Johnson Ross have kindly included with every issue their bumper tackle catalogue.
Its extensive! and is without doubt one of the best tackle catalogues out there that's yearly produced and updated. we even feature in this years Johnson Ross catalogue!
With excellent articles and tech content and stunning photography I thinks that's the way to go to delivering an all round excellent carp mag, Carpology are doing this all day long, keep up the good work Carpologists!
Once last thing... check out the fabled Spitfire wood common! the full stories in the issue written by Lewis Porter.
