Old Skool angler Bob Tapken gets a 30plus common and 35lb mirror on his mk1 compacts, Bobs had two custom yellow led alarms off me all through the winter to test out for his own fishing and so impressed with them he's put an order in and nailed me for another 3! lol here's what Bob has to say on his result..... ``Hi Scott, I had another Wednesday morning a 30lb7oz common so here are the pictures of both and also included a picture of my set up. Pictures aren't brill it was absolutely freezing and my hands felt as though they were dropping off. It is a very good brace for up here at this time of the year, they came from a little syndicate of around 4/5 acres near Market Drayton in Shropshire we have one fish which last out was 38-14 so hoping for a forty this year. The mirror at 35-12 is it's best weight but it looks like a cormorant or a heron has had a stab at it , it has virtually healed I don't think it has anything to do with otters as we have fenced the lake and none have been seen for a while. The common is typical of the commons we have the best going 36lb, there was a good head of tench in but since we have been catching and selling them off the carp have been steadily improving in weight. How are you doing making more alarms this has wet my appetite and I really want to buy two more heads in yellow to go with the two I have got, how soon can I expect to purchase them not only are they the best but they seem to be also lucky for me All the best. Regards Bob`` Gavin Phillips emailed me last night with an outstanding photo of a huge monster carp he's just landed on his mk1 compacts, I'm sure you'll agree he's well and truly christened his alarms! I'm stacked up with angler photos to put up on the site, but all the new tackle developments are commanding all my time up. But over the next few days `ill try to post up more photos of some nice carpy shots and big old carp that have come out to anglers using my alarms. Here's Gavin's story about his monster record breaker carp aptly named....THE BARREL! ``Hi Scott as recently discussed fella see details of the capture of Barrel at 72.08 lbs from Echo Pool France. Brief description of capture - After struggling for past 9 days with none of the big fish active a change in weather brought good fortune on our last night. With only 6hrs remaining I had a slight tremor beep off the right hand rod, that focused my attention and heart stopping seconds later erupted into a full blown one toner!........ A long 45min battle, mostly under the rod tips resulted in slipping the net under a brute of a carp ! Shaking with excitement it finally hit me that my main target fish and largest Mirror in the lake sat sulking in the net !! The Barrel at an incredible 72lb 8ozs. Alarms were faultless fella and very good at picking up the fine bites you get with these big fish. Love them and look forward to more products you will be releasing. `` Great photos Gav, and love the set up, for those of you that are eagle eyed, you might see Gavin using one of my very sought after dmx snag pods, they're on my `to do` list and once I find the time I will get back on their machining, but there's a few other big products in line before I get to them but I am looking at a re-release this year of this fine stainless. Scott Edwards / ecu.
Been a long-time in coming these pouches as I wanted to tweek my original design on them, very sought after bite alarm pouches when I have them in stock at least! I believe there the best in the market. completely my concept and just stand out as proper carp gear and proper quality, you wouldn't expect anything else really now would you! ;) These are a universal fit pouch and will take most bite alarms. The mk1 Compact Receiver pouches are not getting released yet however, still working on their design. Best wishes Scott Edwards / ecu
A 30lb Common any time of the year is a result, when its in the depths of winter success tastes even better! I had a short email off an angler named Richard giving me a few details about his most recent capture.... Here's what he had to say...... ``Hi Scott, Here's an update for you of a fish I had this morning at 11.20 am, fishing at Layfields Lakes Lenwade Norwich. First thirty on these buzzers which I got from you last year. Common of 30lb 1oz, just 2 bleeps of the purples and it held without moving, line just twitched again and had to strike it. Proper job pop up pineapple was 12mm single hook bait in about 16 foot of water. Sorry buzzer pic isn't too good.`` NOTE: Never mind the buzzer pic Rich! The Commons a stunner!
best wishes Scott Edwards / ecu Our carping future, getting the kiddies involved and experiencing nature at an early age. Lukas`s little un watching his rods :)
Cz angler David Fort has been back amongst the big river Carp from his home country and managed to bank this immaculate mirror. carp like these is the allure for trips across the pond. as its not only big its bloody perfect and not a blemish on her. what a lovely looking carp that's probably never been banked before and boy can you tell. an absolute stunner. great photo David I hope those mk1 compacts bank a few more like this for you! Here's what David had to say on his session..... ``.....Dear Scott,
hope you are well. I am sending you another picture of my capture. This is my first February carp caught on 4th February 2016. This lovely wild river mirror carp was caught on Fish boilie from Imperial Baits. I came to the river early morning and was a bit dissipointed as it had really high flow rate that complicated my fishing. The rod was placed only 10 minutes when I could hear my red MK1 Compact! Fish on! It took me over 15min to net this river beauty on 16.80kg. It was the only run of that day. Even when I was fishing the river with high flow rate with lot of branches and grass there were no false bleeps from E.C.U. I heard them once and it was the carp pictured :-) Well done, Scott!....`` Ever successful Midlands angler and fishing tutor Russ Guise has been in touch recently with news that one particular frosty session at Oxfords linear fisheries that saw the water freeze he managed to bank an 29lber from under the ice! Sometimes there's no stopping some anglers.... :)
Here's Russ's pics from the session..... Here's a few photos I thought id share, that anglers send into me on occasions. A picture tells a thousand words they say? and its probably true. have a look at this lovely atmospheric shot of Sussex's Vinnetrow captured by big fish angler Graham Larkcom as he relentlessly pursues the mighty half linear, somewhere out there there's a near 60lb + waddling around....
David Fort, cz specialist angler tries out his new mk1 compacts on a freezing cold river session and christens them in fine style with a big river winter Common.... Here`s what David had to say...... ``..........Dear Scott, attached my first carp when fishing with E.C.U.alarms :-) It is a very precious river wild common. I fished 3 day sessions as there is a law then we can fish only from 7am to 6pm on public waters from January to March. This 16kg common came on the first day morning. I had only 1 run a day. The first days I caught this 16kg common, second one small common and yesterday midday I had another lovely 13.5kg common. It is January and I have already 9 carps from the river with four over 13kg! Great season :-) Thank you and regards, David.......`` Great news clip David all the best, any lads with fish catches or carpy pics you want to share please send them in by email scott.edwards923@ntlworld.com , I always like posting up a carpy story from UK or Europe on occasions between sorting out alarm builds and processing orders. :)
I had this great shot sent over in the week from midlands specialist angler Russ Guise with a short mobile tex accompanying the pic..... ``minus five and proving their worth ten mins after I took this bagged a 29 mirror from under the ice...!`` Great message Russ and great photo from a January frosty morning, we want to see the 29lber you snared! send it over! :)
This was a nice aswel as an unexpected email from Ritchie Mills giving me the low down on his experiences using the mk1 compacts, I was impressed he made the effort to email in to me, that I decided to put it up in its entirety as I had received the original email. Added to the nice letter was some photos of some lovely ancient leneys he`d caught using the buzzers.... ``.........Scott
I have been using a set of mk1 compacts since they first became available, and i would just like to say how impressed i am with them ! In this day and age of modern carping where we have the likes of camera floats to tell us where the carp are etc it is so refreshing to find a product that does what it says , easy to use , and comes with that personal touch . I am out on the bank every week through wind , rain all the elements and your alarms have taken the lot , no longer am i up at 3 am because a leaf blowing into my line has given me a screaming take ! When the mk1 bleeps i know its for a reason , i've not even had to change the batteries that come supplied yet ( 6 months of weekly use Congratulations mate on an amazing product and i wish u every success in future projects ( if u need them tested give me a shout lol ) Below are a couple of my recent captures caught while using the mk1's Regards Richard Mills..........`` The ever consistent Pete Hall has been relentlessly targeting his beds syndicate all winter, and slowly with all his efforts the big carp have been falling to his rods. he started off using my ecu super xl optonics , then he switched to the mk1 compacts and his results have continued getting better and better. Here`s what Pete had to say... ``I plumbed a new swim and found a spot i thought would do a bite. It was a lovely flat smooth area on a bar in 28ft of water falling away to 34ft around it. I used two markers leaving one on the spot and casting the other in front and plumbing back towards me as the bar ran towards me making sure there was nothing to hold my line up in the water coming off that bar a good 30 yards from where I had chosen to place my baits. All was good so i baited accurate with 15mm hall,um baits P3 2kg. wraping the rod to the spot got it right 3rd cast. A small tricky spot that I found to be smooth with weed and rocks round it. I wanted the line sunk and pinned well down so i got rod high in the air with tips up. After setting everything carefully 5mins had passed and I was just catching my breath when my ecu buzzer let out its old faithful tone and I had my christmas cracker! an absolute one toner on the buzzer that's sounds like no other buzzer out there! After a spirited battle up came from the winter depths my prize and what a prize... The scales bounced round to 37lb on the button well happy, bait, tackle swim choice and careful rig placement all playing their part on the day. as you can see from the weather the carp are still falling to my rods even with the frosts freezing me in like an igloo! but the mk1 compacts carried on performing and I didn't get roller freeze, absolute well built bullet proof alarms!``..... Check out the temperature on Pete's on the bank thermometer -5 degrees! Pete mentioned to me it was nippy from the facebook message I got! Nippy! lol doesn't get any more dedicated than that well done Pete great angling got you the result.
The monkey climber mag is out now full of big old Carp from all over Europe. Some of the photos... well actually most of the photos in the mag are stunning. proper Old Skool feel to the mag with stunning wild expanse backdrops and big European Carp that are from the land of the giants.....
I got this cartoon sketch off Ray Best of uk carp angler / uk match angler website. Rays had a set of mk1 compacts off me to review and do some coverage on for his websites. Ray didn't say he was sending me the photo I just saw it attached to his email! so I thought i`ll have that and stick it up on the ecu web pages for lads to have a chuckle at. now I finally know what's happening in my swim! lol
The Rod Risers are now available for anglers that fish with their tips skywards then these are the kiddies. I've kept the price as low as possible, but unfortunately I cant give them away as originally planned as some lads wanted 20 pairs off me a time! Only available to purchase through the website.
