The ever consistent Pete Hall has been relentlessly targeting his beds syndicate all winter, and slowly with all his efforts the big carp have been falling to his rods. he started off using my ecu super xl optonics , then he switched to the mk1 compacts and his results have continued getting better and better.

Here`s what Pete had to say...
``I plumbed a new swim and found a spot i thought would do a bite.
It was a lovely flat smooth area on a bar in 28ft of water falling away to 34ft around it.
I used two markers leaving one on the spot and casting the other in front and plumbing back towards me as the bar ran towards me making sure there was nothing to hold my line up in the water coming off that bar a good 30 yards from where I had chosen to place my baits.
All was good so i baited accurate with 15mm hall,um baits P3 2kg.
wraping the rod to the spot got it right 3rd cast. A small tricky spot that I found to be smooth with weed and rocks round it. I wanted the line sunk and pinned well down so i got rod high in the air with tips up. After setting everything carefully 5mins had passed and I was just catching my breath when my ecu buzzer let out its old faithful tone and I had my christmas cracker! an absolute one toner on the buzzer that's sounds like no other buzzer out there! After a spirited battle up came from the winter depths my prize and what a prize...
The scales bounced round to 37lb on the button well happy, bait, tackle swim choice and careful rig placement all playing their part on the day.
as you can see from the weather the carp are still falling to my rods even with the frosts freezing me in like an igloo! but the mk1 compacts carried on performing and I didn't get roller freeze, absolute well built bullet proof alarms!``.....
